February 2012 Tango Mango - Programme for Musicians

Come and join our Community Orquesta Tipica for a weekend of making tango music of the golden era.
Visiting Coach for our Orquesta Tipica: Mark Wyman, author of the famous 'Tango Fake Book'

The focus will be on developing our sense of the Tango Groove, the Marcato as well Tango phrasing. There will be new pieces too, focusing on the style of the band of Carlos Di Sarli, otherwise known as 'The King of Melody'.

General Info for the Weekend:

Cost:

The whole weekend will cost £40 for musicians, but please don't be put off coming for lack of finance! We can have a sliding scale of concessions for those who cannot afford to pay that much. Pupils can pay half price.

Sheet music:

We will look at 4 or 5 new pieces that Mark will bring along, arrangements in the Style of Carlos Di Sarli. We will also revisit some ofthe pieces we have previously played. sheet music will be available online in advance at no extra cost- please contact z.ruth@members.shines.net

Food:

Please bring along food for Saturday evening and Sunday lunch & dinner, or contact me to book a meal @ £6.50

Accommodation:

Camping at the school:
We are able to camp at the school, as well as using two class rooms as dormitories. There are no beds you will have to bring your own roly mat etc! Shower facilities on campus. If you are interested in either of those options, please let me know.

The small print:

Our host, the Rudolf Steiner School has a policy of no alcohol on their grounds. As the organiser of the Mangos, I ask you to respect the following:

* No alcohol anywhere on the school grounds, including the camp site.
* No smoking anywhere in the school grounds except in the designated areas (by the ash tray outside the hall and in the car park)
*Please be discrete with Photography - some people are not happy to be photographed, so do not publicise online any photos that you take, unless you have the consent of the organiser. NO photography during classes or private lessons.
