STOP PRESS - SPECIAL TREAT!!!
January 22nd in Exeter, January 23rd in Totnes
Tango Musicality Workshops with Joaquin Amenabar from Argentina

(click on his name to get to his web site for more info on his teaching etc)

In his roles as both musician and tango dancer, Joaquin Amenabar has developed a unique practical teaching system of tango musicality for tango dancers in which no theoretical knowledge of music is required at all. From the most basic rhythmical units to the most complicated ones, these classes start from the very beginning of a tango dancer's education and can be the first tango class ever for a tango dancer, whilst at the same time being of equal value to the experienced dancer. The fact that no musical terminology is used in the classes makes it easy to access for everybody. The courses are 100% practical workshops.

Topics covered include:
1) Understanding the different rhythmical patterns in tango, milonga and vals.
2) The Melody, the rhythm of the melody, how does it change from phrase to phrase, the variable rhythm of tango according to each phrase.
3) Tango form and structure. Phrases system, parts of the tango and its repetition system and its relation with the dance. How to predict the placing of the rhythmical changes in tango.

Joaquin Amenabar has a wide experience on teaching musicality. These classes have been held in Nuernberg, Stuttgart, Berlin, Muenchen and Hannover in Germany; Wellington, Christchurch and Auckland in New Zealand; Canberra, Melbourne, Sidney and Adelaide in Australia; Chicago in USA, London, Market Harborough and Cheshire in England, amongst other countries. Amenabar teaches his classes in the local language of each country where he teaches and without translators.

Here a comment from David Turner, author of 'A Passion for Tango':
I really rate [Joaquin] highly as a teacher [...]. He plays his bandoneon in the classes to accentuate the points he wants to make [...]. I think the workshop he did for us last January had the longest lasting beneficial effect of any visiting teacher, particularly on couples who had started to get wound up about technical stuff. He just brings it all down to the music, so simply.
